A Conversation With the Deceased ?

Greetings, have you ever wondered what it would be like to talk to someone who passaed away long ago or someone who did not exist at all?

Well, humans still can't do that. However, we do have something that is quite similar. That is Artificial Intelligence Chatbots. With enough data about a person's characteristics, AI chatbots are capable of mimicking real or fictional people and engage in conversations with us.

For this purpose I used Magic School's character chatbot feature to fetch the soul of Erwin Rommel and had a chat about his experiences in WWII. The Chatbot provided a teacher-student context between me and Rommel in which I was the student so Rommel responded to my questions as if he was eagerly tutoring an officer under his care. Through this session of question and answers I gained new insight on a great historical figure's ideals and worldview while also learning about new facts. However, as it is a common limitation of the current state of AI, it sometimes falls to repetition and some phrases sound out of character for one of the greatest commanders.

To use this sort of AI in an educational setting it would need to be able to hold meaningful conversations and be able to respond to all manners of questions. To achieve this, the AI needs a lot of data to impersonate the person in question. Therefore, it may fail to prove useful if used for ancient and ambigious content. However, if the subject is well documented and mostly understood, studendts can experience a fraction of what it is like to talk to great people and learn a lot from them.

By clicking here you can find my report on the conversation I had with Erwin Rommel which I revised through writing feedback function of Magic School. I found the feedback vague and incorrect, however that may have resulted from a bad promt input. Still it should be improved a little more to be useful to students.

Below I will add all the documents of my conversation and revision should you desire to check it for yourself, until next time, God bless.
